I wonder if the Coyote Brothers will meet again this year?
by Lynda Pheasant

Indeed, it was a “legendary” evening at the Applesox baseball game!  Many thanks to Jim Corcoran and Ken Osborne and their marvelous team for giving us this opportunity to gain recognition as the first nonprofit organization to be featured by the AppleSox.  Special thanks to Pepsi for the welcoming life-size banner of WAGS Coyote;

and, thanks to the WSGS Innovative Grant for the new WAGS banner which backed the booth near the ballpark entrance.  Barb CongdonMary SwartzPatty OstendorffCyndy Valdez, and Lynda Pheasant did a great job greeting people at the WAGS booth. The National Anthem, performed by our very own WAGS and Apollo Club members, was absolutely beautiful – thanks to Hank Lubean and Lynn Heminger for coordinating the two clubs.

The Sorom Family, capably represented by young Preston Sorom, did a great job throwing the honorary first pitch.

(Preston & Grandpa, Dr. Terry Sorom, standing in front of the WAGS Coyote Banner.)

We all enjoyed an idyllic night at the ballpark, saw some impressive skills by both baseball teams, while our Society and the two mascots, AppleSox Coyote and WAGS Coyote, were celebrated throughout the game!

 Among the highlights for me was having Paul Collard, scoreboard manager for the AppleSox, introduce himself as the son of the late Rev. Ernest Collard, a long-time friend who had been an active and treasured member of WAGS well into his eighties.  Paul is eager to pursue digital preservation of his Dad’s wonderful collections of family history, and right there, ready to help him get started, was Hank Lubean, singing the National Anthem.

Eighteen members of the Wenatchee Apollo Club, including two WAGS members (Hank & Lynn), sang The National Anthem at the game. Their rendition of the anthem was absolutely beautiful!

Thanks, WAGS Coyote, for helping us make that wonderful connection!
